Membership Rōpū and Criteria

Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri (NKM) has a number of rōpū which exist to support the kaupapa and development of our whare and Te Tiriti o Waitangi relationship structure with Te Ōhaakii ā Hine – National Network Ending Sexual Violence Together. Membership onto these Rōpū is as follows:

1. Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri Whānau

This is made up of Tangata whenua who wish to tautoko the kaupapa and be updated and informed by NKM to further the elimination of mahi tūkino.

Membership criteria:

• Must be Tangata Whenua
• Open to all whānau or hapū members or to a Kaupapa Māori service rōpū

2. Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri, Te Pou Āwhā

The Pou Āwhā hold the expertise in mahi tūkino or other specialist fields. The role of Te Pou Āwha is to support the kaupapa of NKM to achieve their goals and priorities.

Membership criteria:

• Must be an NKM whānau member
• Applications must be supported by a current member of Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri Paetakawaenga

3. Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri Paetakawaenga

The Paetakawaenga lead and hold the vision and kaupapa of NKM.

Membership criteria:

• Must be a Pou Āwhā member
• Applications must be supported by current members of the Paetakawaenga
